It was a cool September Thursday afternoon. New classroom, new school, new people. Its the same feelings I had when I walked into school for the first time as a kid. I had butterflies in my stomach, I had new pens and pencils and had already read over the syllabus which made me even more overwhelmed at the amount of work that was listed for a graduate student to do.
I took my place in the front of the class in Kelly Gym and waited patiently for the class to start. Thankfully, a friendly face came through the door and an instant feeling of relief came rushing over me. The teacher came into the room and began her preparations for the lecture. This was it, my first big moment as a graduate student at Bridgewater State University. My first class went smoothly, which was nice. It gave me a chance to start to slowly introduce myself to the new process of graduate life. Over the next 3 months I made some great new friends, learned some new skills and began to feel comfortable with my journey as a graduate student here at Bridgewater State University.
I can confidently say that I am starting to feel comfortable with this new chapter in my life and encourage others to look into graduate school. It is a different experience than undergraduate, but just as rewarding. Here’s to hoping that next semester and the rest to come are just as fun filled and jam packed with experiences as this first one.
